There have been several studies looking into the effect that Boron has on testosterone production..

One study involving male bodybuilders saw the test subjects take 2.5mg of boron daily for 9 weeks.. this failed to see any noticeable changes in testosterone production..

boron-2Another study, contradicting the first study again in healthy males saw the subjects take 10mg of boron for 4 weeks, saw an 11% increase in overall testosterone.

These and other tests provide decidedly mixed results, it has been shown in other studies to provide an increase in free testosterone but the results do vary according to the timescale of the trial and the dosages involved.

New Studies – Jan 2015

Since we wrote this original post there has been a further in-depth study involving human subjects that looked in greater detail at how Boron can influence testosterone production…. this is the most revealing study to date and has highlighted some positive uses regarding this compound and just how it CAN help to boost testosterone.. another discovery is the effect it has on SHBG…a great deal of free testosterone gets bound to sex hormone binding globulin and its effects are therefore depleted significantly…. Boron actually lowers the amount of SHGB in the blood, leaving more free testosterone available to do what it does best – boost energy, libido and muscle tone..

This new study involved 8 test subjects who were given 10mg of Boron daily over a period of 7 days.. their blood was tested some 6 hours after ingestion and there was noticeable reduction in SHBG plus a clear increase in free testosterone.. another benefit was that inflammation markers were also reduced…

This is the clearest indication of Boron’s ability to boost testosterone and its little wonder that we are starting to find it in some of the better testosterone boosting formulas out there..
